May Days Poems -'Baking Up A Storm' May 17

May 17

On this day in 1824 the diaries of Lord Byron were burned by six of the poet's friends.Often recognized as the greatest crime in literary history, Lord Byron's friend, Murray, saw the memoirs as scandalous enough to damage Byron's reputation forevr. Byron himself declared that he wished the memoirs to be publishedr.

It is also the day the very first merry-go-round debuted at a fair in Philippopolis, Turkey in 1624.

But just as we think about these events taking place on May 17th it is also World Baking Day! So I am going to celebrate that fact. The possibilities are endless, really - so maybe it’s time to bake some bread, biscuits, cake, cupcakes, or whatever baked goodie you feel like today! I’ve just made a cottage pie and written a poem…

Baking Up A Storm

The right attitude and access to an oven

Governs your response

On World baking Day

What shall it be?

Some yummy biscuits perhaps...

A cake topped with cream

A tasty tart

A piquant pie

I can’t decide

I wonder why?

Seriously, if I knew you were comimg…
